Primary Languages

We teach a curriculum that enables our children to become effective and confident users of languages, and to show an understanding and respect for different cultures in our local, national and global communities. French is taught in Key Stage Two through the Language Angels, a fully resourced online platform that has been designed by experts. In our weekly session, often held in our dedicated languages studio, the children are given opportunities to practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in the target language of French. We also make comparisons between English and French as well as celebrating all language-learning, for example: opportunities to share home languages and cultures. Lessons are designed to be interactive and lively, encouraging children to be confident speakers and to be curious about new language structures. Formative and summative assessment are used during French lessons to ensure substantial progress over the four years.
